A.L.T. launch night

Art Licks are very excited to launch the A.L.T. pop-up space to fundraise for its annual London festival, the Art Licks Weekend. A.L.T. is a collection of functional items designed and made for the home by a select group of artists.

at Safehouse 1

The items are produced in varying limited editions with prices ranging from £6—£500. They will be available to purchase both at A.L.T.’s pop-up Peckham shop for the week until the 6th, and online. The shop will be set up like a living room, filled with the artists’ objects, and host a performance night on Friday 3 June.

Each artist has worked with Art Licks since it launched in 2010, contributing to its vibrant and ambitious programming. These are young artists who are making exciting and important new work; A.L.T. artists are:

Pio Abad

Catherine Aitken & David Murphy

Miriam Austin

James Capper

Patrick Coyle

Freddy Dewe Mathews

Andrea Francke

Marie Jacotey

Lucy Joyce

Holly Slingsby

A.L.T. fundraises for the Art Licks Weekend, an annual festival that celebrates the contribution emerging artists and grassroots projects make to the cultural life of London. For the three-day festival artist-run projects, curatorial collectives and young galleries across the city open up their spaces for the public, with free events and exhibitions of young artists’ work.

Each year the festival grows, develops and works with more and more artists – in 2015, the festival saw 87 galleries and project spaces take part, exhibiting the work of 400 young artists and over 12,249 visitors attended. With the ever-shrinking opportunities for public funding it is imperative that Art Licks can initiate funds independently for the 2016 festival to continue and A.L.T. is a positive and fun way for Art Licks to raise these funds.

Art Licks will also launch the summer issue of its printed magazine at the launch.

A performance night will be held in the space on Friday 3 June, 7-9pm, with performances from Patrick Coyle and Holly Slingsby. Read more.

We look forward to seeing you at the space!
