low plains drifter

New paintings by Nicky Hodge.

at No Format Gallery

The show references drift, Raoul de Keyser’s 2015 show in London with its wall of small paintings inspired by the Belgian lowlands and the process of abstract painting. Taking too the absurd figure of a nameless saviour riding into town from a 1970s Western, this new exhibition presents small acrylic paintings emerging like shimmering apparitions on the horizon.

Nicky Hodge lives in London. She graduated from Central St Martin’s in 1992 and was awarded a post-graduate diploma from Goldsmiths MFA in 2015. In the early 2000s, her paintings were exhibited at Danielle Arnaud Contemporary Art, including a solo exhibition in 2001. Recent exhibitions and projects include Small World, PS Mirabel, Manchester (2017), away with the birds, Deptford X (2017) and Creekside Open, selected by Alison Wilding, APT Gallery (2017). She has recently been selected for Exceptional, the Collyer Bristow Graduate Award exhibition in June 2018.
