Curatorial Residencies, Folkestone

HOP Projects CT20 is offering a rolling series of one-month residencies inviting innovative curatorial proposals from all practitioners, including those working in the visual arts, performance, architecture and design to research and execute an exhibition project in Folkestone.

The residency is an open platform for those who wish to test new ideas and to be part of a thriving artistic community, work alongside the resident artists. The exhibitions will be part of HPCT20’s 2019 arts programme.

The Curatorial Residency at HOP Projects CT20 provides the opportunity for young curators to research and execute an exhibition project in Folkestone at the HOP Projects exhibition space with the active support of its directors and partners. You will be part of a thriving artistic community, working alongside the resident artists and your exhibition will be incorporated into our active exhibition programme.

The residency focuses on practical experiences in the conceptualising, planning, strategising, selecting, researching, mounting, installing and circulation of the projects and artistic statements. HOP Projects encourage proposals that are relevant, engaging and innovative. During the residency, HOP Projects will offer a co-working space to fully develop your own ideas along with the directors and collaborators’ experienced guidance. Participants will have access to workshops, artist-talks, screenings, exhibitions and other regular events taking place in Folkestone.

At the conclusion of the working period, the resident curator will put on one-week exhibition / production of the curatorial residency. HOP Projects will offer production assistance and support (installation, promotion, publicity etc.), as well as connections, artist database and media partners. This final presentation will take place in HOP Projects CT20 project space and will be part of the official exhibition programme.

The residency is for a maximum of one month from January to December 2019.

Inquiries for specific residency periods are welcome and residents will be accepted on a rolling basis. HOP Projects will work with the selected curator to ensure that both the dates and duration of their residencies are as beneficial as possible.

The application is open until 15 February 2019.
