During their summer research residency at Art Licks, artists Anna Hughes & Adam Shield will collaborate on gathering material to create new sonic and sculptural works.
Drawing on their shared interest in ancient sites and concepts of time and landscape, they will be making field recordings as well as composing instrumental and vocal layers, with Art Licks as a base for an impromptu recording studio.
Visits to historical ruins, standing stones and local walks will be explored as well as research into Moorland plant lore and histories from the local landscape. These will be channelled into their evolving ambient soundscape and concepts for related sculptural works.
Photographic imagery and drawings will later be compiled into a risograph publication that will accompany their work.
